Social Media Marketing for Packers & Movers

Last updated: October 16, 2026 Digiintern Technologies Private Limited

Nobody follows a moving company on Instagram for fun. People move once every few years and forget the mover’s name soon after. Social media still matters for movers, just in two different ways: it’s where a customer checks you are real after getting your number from a friend, and Meta ads can reach people a week or two before they start searching on Google.

What usually goes wrong is the content. Most mover pages post festival greetings, a stock truck with “safe and secure shifting” written over it, and the odd offer poster. Then the owner tries Meta lead ads, gets 200 leads in a week, and finds half the numbers are switched off and the other half wanted a tempo for ₹500.

Why social doesn’t work for most movers

The profile looks abandoned. A customer taps your Instagram link from Google and sees the last post was a Holi greeting from 18 months ago. That alone makes some people wonder whether you’re still in business.

Lead forms bring volume, not customers. Meta’s default instant forms are quick to fill, which is the problem. Without qualifying questions, you get people who tapped by mistake, people shifting one fridge, and people outside your service area.

Replies take hours. A message that comes in at 8 pm on a Sunday and gets an answer on Monday afternoon has usually been booked by someone else in the meantime.

The content looks like everyone else’s. A red truck, a smiling family in a stock photo and the words “hassle-free relocation” could belong to any of 50 movers in your city. Nothing in it tells a viewer how your crew wraps a fridge or what happens if a box goes missing.

Budgets ignore the calendar. Household moves bunch up between April and June, when school sessions start and many government and bank transfers happen, and again at month-ends when leases run out. Ads that run at the same budget all year waste money in the quiet months and run short in the busy ones.

What we run on social for movers

  • Packing reels with your own crew. Wrapping a 55-inch TV, crating a glass dining table, taking apart a sliding wardrobe and labelling every screw bag. Short, real and a little satisfying to watch.
  • Click to WhatsApp ads. Ads that open a chat with your business number and a greeting asking for both pin codes, home size and move date, so the first reply already has what your team needs.
  • Lead forms with filters. When instant forms make sense, we use the higher-intent form option and add questions on home size and moving month, which cuts the junk sharply.
  • Profile clean-up. Address, hours and WhatsApp number in the bio, plus story highlights for packing, trucks, reviews and how pricing works.
  • A season-based content plan. More posts and more ad budget from March to June and in the last week of each month, less in the monsoon slowdown.
  • Retargeting. Ads shown to people who started a quote on your website but didn’t finish, with a nudge to book a free video survey.

Where social fits next to search

For movers, social supports search rather than replacing it. A rough channel split we’d use for a single-city mover:

  • Instagram: reels and highlights that prove you are a real crew with real trucks. Mainly for trust.
  • Facebook: older customers and family moves. Posting in housing society groups is fine only where the admins allow business posts.
  • Meta ads: Click to WhatsApp campaigns in the cities you serve, with spend weighted towards moving season.
  • YouTube Shorts: the same packing reels, at almost no extra cost.

One rule we hold to: ask before filming inside a customer’s home, and never show house numbers, society names or faces without written permission. A packing video that reveals where a family’s belongings are going is a safety problem as well as a privacy one.

Testimonial videos work too, if they are real. A customer saying on camera that the crew turned up at 7 am and finished by noon is worth more than any designed post, but get their written consent first and let them see the final cut.

How a social engagement runs

Month 1: profile clean-up, a filming day with your crew (in person if you’re in Delhi NCR, over a video call with a shot list elsewhere), WhatsApp Business set-up with quick replies, and a small test campaign in your main city. We also write quick replies for common questions, like whether you carry plants or how much notice you need, so whoever is on WhatsApp can answer in seconds.

Months 2 to 3: we compare Click to WhatsApp ads against filtered lead forms, keep whichever gives cheaper booked surveys, and post two or three reels a week.

Months 4 to 6: budget follows the calendar, retargeting goes live, and the reels that got the most saves and shares get turned into ads.

What we measure

  • Cost per qualified WhatsApp conversation, meaning a chat that includes a route and a date
  • Video or home surveys booked from social
  • Your team’s average first reply time on WhatsApp and Instagram DMs
  • Moves booked that your sales team tags as coming from social
  • Reel views and saves, which we watch but don’t treat as results

We also send a short monthly note on which ads and reels brought the chats that turned into bookings, so you can see what is working instead of reading a page of reach numbers.

Followers aren’t on this list. A mover with 900 followers and a fast WhatsApp reply will book more moves than one with 20,000 followers who answers the next day.

If you’ve tried Meta ads and ended up with a pile of dead numbers, send us a screenshot of the campaign and a rough idea of how your team handles WhatsApp chats. We’ll do a free review and suggest what to change before you spend another rupee on it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Instagram worth it for a packers and movers business?

As a trust signal, yes. Many customers check your Instagram after getting your number, and real packing videos reassure them. As a direct lead source on its own, it is weaker than Google. We usually treat organic posting as support and put the lead generation budget into Click to WhatsApp ads during moving season.

Should we use Meta lead forms or WhatsApp ads?

For most movers, Click to WhatsApp ads give fewer but better enquiries, because starting a chat takes a little more effort than tapping a pre-filled form. Lead forms can work if you add qualifying questions and call back within minutes. We usually test both for a few weeks and keep the one with the lower cost per booked survey.

How much should we spend on Meta ads?

Start with a modest test budget in one city for six to eight weeks, enough to see which ads produce booked surveys. Raise it in March to June when demand peaks, and cut back in slower months. We don’t believe in a fixed monthly figure for every mover, because route mix and average move value differ a lot.

Do you come and film our team?

If you’re in Delhi NCR, yes, we can plan a filming day at your warehouse or on a real move with the customer’s permission. Outside NCR, we send a shot list and guide your team over a video call, then edit the footage ourselves. Phone footage of your own crew usually works better than polished stock clips.
