Online Reputation Management for Construction Contractors & Builders

Last updated: October 16, 2026 Digiintern Technologies Private Limited

Before a homebuyer pays a booking amount, they search the builder’s name with words like “reviews”, “complaints” and “possession delay”. They read Google reviews, threads on r/gurgaon or r/bangalore, YouTube comments under walkthrough videos, and the complaints section of the state RERA portal. Commercial clients run a quieter version: the CFO searches your company name before signing a ₹15 crore contract and forwards anything odd to the MD.

One unanswered thread about delayed possession can cost more bookings than a month of ads brings in. Contractors face the same problem in a different form, often from a subcontractor in a payment dispute posting one-star reviews under three different names. Neither problem goes away on its own, and neither is solved by posting a pile of five-star reviews from friends.

Reputation problems that hit construction firms

  • Delay complaints owning the brand search. A two-year-old forum post about a delayed tower still ranks for your company name, long after possession was given.
  • Reviews from disputes, not clients. Former employees, unpaid vendors and rival firms leave ratings that have nothing to do with build quality.
  • Fake positives that backfire. A burst of five-star reviews from new accounts gets filtered by Google, and buyers who notice the pattern trust you less than before.
  • Autocomplete suggestions. “Company name fraud” or “company name complaints” appears in the search box because a few people searched it after one bad incident.
  • Nothing from you on page one. Your website is the only result you control. Everything else is portals, forums and old news.

The common reaction is to go quiet and hope it fades. It doesn’t. Search results for a builder’s name change slowly, and a thread from 2023 can still be the third result when your next tower launches.

What our reputation work covers

Monitoring that someone actually reads

We watch Google reviews, Justdial, MouthShut, 99acres and MagicBricks project reviews, Reddit, YouTube comments and news mentions, and send a short weekly summary. Anything urgent, like a viral video from an unhappy buyer, reaches your marketing head the same day.

A response playbook

Tested replies for delays, quality issues, refunds and staff behaviour, plus who approves each type and a 48-hour target to respond. A reply to a seepage complaint needs input from the site engineer; a reply about a delayed refund needs accounts. The playbook says who to ask so replies don’t sit in someone’s inbox for a fortnight.

Honest review collection

Requests at possession, final handover and the end of the defect liability period, when satisfied clients are most willing to write. Commercial clients are asked for a LinkedIn recommendation or a short quote for your website instead, since few factory owners write Google reviews.

Brand page-one building

Project update pages, an active LinkedIn page, a YouTube channel with progress films, and coverage of completed projects. The aim is that a buyer searching your name sees eight results you can stand behind, not two.

Policy-based flagging

Reviews that break platform rules, such as conflict-of-interest posts, abuse or spam, get reported through the official channels with evidence.

Buyer communication

Monthly progress updates to existing buyers by email or WhatsApp. Most delay complaints start because buyers hear nothing, not because of the delay itself. Regular, honest updates prevent a large share of angry reviews from being written in the first place.

Where we draw the line

We never write, buy or swap reviews. India’s consumer protection framework treats fake reviews as an unfair trade practice, the BIS standard on online consumer reviews (IS 19000:2022) sets expectations for platforms, and Google removes them anyway. We also can’t remove a RERA order, a court judgment or a factual news report. What we can do is make sure your side is answered clearly and that newer, accurate information sits next to it.

Replies to reviews should never reveal a buyer’s unit number, payment history or phone number, however frustrating the complaint. That is a privacy issue under the DPDP Act 2023 as well as a bad look. Legal notices for genuinely defamatory posts are a matter for your lawyer; we help with documentation.

How an engagement runs

  • Month 1: A brand search audit across Google, portals and forums, a sentiment baseline, and replies to the backlog of unanswered reviews.
  • Months 2 to 3: The review request routine goes live, owned profiles get built out, and the response playbook is handed to your team.
  • Months 4 to 6: New content starts to rank for your brand, the rating trend becomes visible, and we report on which complaints keep repeating so operations can fix the cause.

Reputation moves slowly. Old results don’t disappear in a month, and anyone promising to “delete” bad reviews is usually promising something against platform rules.

The work also needs someone on your side. We draft replies and run the monitoring, but answers about a delayed OC, a refund cheque or a cracked plaster wall need facts only your project and accounts teams have. In most firms, one CRM executive with an hour a day is enough to keep things moving.

What we measure

  • How many of the first ten results for your brand name are positive, neutral or negative.
  • Average rating and new reviews per month on Google and the main portals.
  • Median response time to reviews and complaints.
  • Recurring complaint themes, reported to your operations team.
  • Branded search volume, which recovers as trust does.
  • Sales feedback: how often buyers raise online complaints during site visits, which your team logs in a simple sheet.

Search your own company or project name the way a buyer would. If you don’t like what comes up, ask us for a free reputation audit. We’ll show you what buyers and clients see today and what is realistic to change in six months.

Frequently asked questions

Can you remove negative reviews about our project?

Only when a review breaks the platform’s own rules, for example if it is spam, abusive, posted by a competitor or about a different business. Genuine complaints from buyers stay. What changes perception is a calm, factual reply, the fix where one is possible, and a steady flow of new reviews from satisfied buyers that puts the old complaint in context.

How long before our brand search looks better?

Replies to existing reviews show immediately. Building new results that outrank old forum threads usually takes three to six months, depending on how strong those threads are. A builder with regular project updates, an active YouTube channel and a LinkedIn page tends to see page one shift sooner than one starting from just a website.

Should we reply to every review, even the positive ones?

Reply to every negative or mixed review, always. For positive ones, a short personal thank-you is worth it when you have time, and it shows future buyers that someone reads them. Avoid copy-pasted replies; buyers spot them. Replies to complaints should offer a named contact and move the conversation offline.

What do we do about a Reddit thread criticising our project?

Don’t flood it with new accounts defending you; Reddit users notice and it gets worse. If the facts are wrong, one clear reply from an identified company account, with dates and documents, works better. If the facts are right, acknowledge them and say what has changed. Then make sure your own updates are easy to find.
