In B2B logistics, reputation travels through people more than platforms. A shipper considering a new forwarder asks two peers in an export council WhatsApp group, checks the firm’s Google reviews and LinkedIn page, and sometimes looks at AmbitionBox or Glassdoor because high staff turnover often means dropped follow-ups. What they find in those few minutes decides whether you get the trial shipment.
Most logistics firms assume reviews don’t matter because “our customers are businesses, they don’t write reviews”. Then a prospect searches the company name and finds six Google reviews, two of them from truck owners angry about late payments, and an employer rating dragged down by warehouse staff complaints. Add the growing number of scams using real forwarder names, and silence becomes expensive.
What damages a logistics firm’s reputation
- A thin review profile. A handful of reviews, mostly from vendors or drivers rather than shippers, so the overall picture is about payment disputes rather than service.
- Employer review sites. AmbitionBox and Glassdoor ratings come up when someone searches your name. Buyers read them as a hint about how stable your team and service are.
- Impersonation scams. Fraudsters pose as a known forwarder or customs agent, call people about a “parcel held at customs” and ask for clearance fees, or offer fake jobs for a registration fee. Victims search the name, find your real profile and post angry reviews.
- Disputes aired in public. A shipper unhappy with detention and demurrage charges, or cargo held at a port, writes a long LinkedIn post naming your company. Your reply, or lack of one, is read by everyone in that shipper’s network.
- Stale directory listings. Old IndiaMART or Justdial pages with numbers that no longer work, so prospects can’t reach you and assume the firm has closed.
Our reputation work for logistics companies
Brand search audit and monitoring
We look at everything on the first two pages for your company name, then monitor Google, LinkedIn, AmbitionBox, Glassdoor, IndiaMART and news mentions each week.
A shipper review programme
After a successful shipment or a quarter of steady work, your key account manager sends the client’s logistics contact a short request with a direct Google review link. Businesses rarely review unasked, but many will when the person they deal with asks.
Replies to employer reviews
Calm, specific responses to AmbitionBox and Glassdoor reviews, written with your HR team. We also share the recurring themes so management can see what keeps coming up.
Impersonation response kit
A warning page on your website listing official numbers and domains, reports to Google and LinkedIn for fake profiles, and help for victims to file on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. We also check that your LinkedIn page and Google profile are verified.
Directory and listing clean-up
Old IndiaMART, Justdial and TradeIndia pages get updated or closed, so every number a prospect finds actually reaches your team. Branch closures and moves are reflected everywhere within a week.
Dispute reply templates
Prepared approaches for detention and demurrage complaints, cargo holds and delays, written to acknowledge the issue, explain your process and move the conversation to a private channel.
LinkedIn deserves its own attention. When a shipper posts publicly about a held container, the right response is usually a short comment from a senior person acknowledging it and asking them to connect directly, followed by a fast private call. A long defensive thread in public rarely ends well for the forwarder, even when the forwarder is right on the facts.
What to be careful about
- Never reveal shipment details, rates, documents or client names in a public reply, even when the complaint is wrong. Confidentiality matters more to your other clients than winning one argument.
- Don’t have employees, agents or partner firms post reviews pretending to be shippers. Fake reviews break platform rules and consumer protection guidance, and in a small industry they get noticed.
- Avoid public legal threats against reviewers. If a review is defamatory, take legal advice privately and use the platform’s reporting process.
- Be accurate when explaining charges. If detention was in the contract, say so plainly. If your team made a mistake, say that too.
How the engagement runs
Month 1: brand search audit, listing clean-up on IndiaMART and Justdial, replies to the backlog of unanswered reviews, impersonation warning page and reports.
Months 2 to 3: the shipper review programme starts with your account managers, employer review replies begin, and weekly monitoring is running.
Months 4 to 6: shipper reviews start to outnumber vendor and driver complaints, brand search results improve as your own pages and profiles take more of page one, and we review complaint themes with you every month. By then you should also have a simple routine your own team can keep running if you ever stop working with us.
What we measure
- New Google reviews per location per month, and how many come from shippers
- Average rating trend on Google and on employer review sites
- Reply time for negative reviews and public complaints
- Results on page one for your brand name that you own or control
- Impersonation cases reported and taken down
- Directory listings corrected or closed
- Employer review replies posted, and the themes your HR team has acted on
A few complaints come up again and again in logistics: slow updates during a delay, surprise charges at destination, and account managers who are hard to reach. When reviews keep pointing at the same issue, we tell you directly, because a better reply template will only go so far.
Search your company name the way a new shipper would, and then search it with “fraud” and “reviews”. If the results don’t match the firm you run, send us the links. We’ll do a free reputation audit and tell you what can be improved, what needs an operational fix, and what has to be reported.
Frequently asked questions
Our clients are businesses. Do Google reviews really matter?
Yes, because new shippers check them before a trial shipment, even if your existing clients never do. A profile with a few reviews from shippers about responsiveness and clearance speed reassures a procurement team. A profile with only driver complaints gives them a reason to choose someone else.
Can you remove negative AmbitionBox or Glassdoor reviews?
We can report reviews that break the platform’s rules, such as personal abuse or confidential information, and the platform decides. Genuine reviews stay. A thoughtful reply from your HR team, and fixing what staff keep complaining about, does more for the rating over time.
Scammers are using our name for fake customs and job calls. What should we do?
Put a clear notice on your website and profiles listing your only official numbers and email domains, and stating that you never ask individuals for clearance or job fees. Report fake profiles and sites to the platforms, and point victims to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. We help with each step and keep a record of every case.
Can our employees post reviews for the company?
Not as customer reviews. Employees reviewing their own employer on Google breaks Google’s conflict of interest policy and looks fake to readers. They can review you on employer sites like AmbitionBox, where that’s the purpose, as long as nobody is pressured or rewarded for a positive one.
