Paid search is where borrowers with urgency show up. “Loan against property in Gurgaon”, “home loan balance transfer”, “business loan for GST registered” are typed by people who want to talk to someone this week. For a DSA, Google Ads can fill the pipeline faster than any other channel. It can also burn INR 50,000 in a fortnight on clicks from people looking for the bank’s customer care number.
Finance is one of the most expensive and most restricted categories on Google Ads in India. Advertisers have to complete financial services verification, personal loan ads have their own disclosure rules, and generic keywords cost a lot per click because banks and fintech apps bid on them all day. A DSA or advisor needs narrow targeting, careful copy and a clear way to tell good clicks from wasted ones.
Where finance ad budgets get wasted
- Broad keywords: bidding on “personal loan” on broad match brings searches like “personal loan app download”, “personal loan without documents” and “SBI personal loan customer care”. None of them want a DSA.
- Bidding on bank brand names: ads on “HDFC home loan” pull people looking for the bank itself. They feel misled when they reach an agent, and lenders may object to you bidding on their trademark.
- Verification blocking ads: many DSAs start a campaign and find ads stuck as “limited” or disapproved because the account has not completed Google’s financial services verification for India, or the business documents do not match.
- No call tracking: most finance enquiries come by phone. If calls are not tracked, the account optimises for form fills only, and you cannot tell which keywords bring borrowers who qualify.
- Wrong locations: location settings left at “interested in” let ads show to people outside your service area who mention your city in a search.
What we set up and manage
- Verification and account set-up: we help you prepare the documents Google asks for under its financial services verification, and set up the account so the verified details match your website and invoices.
- Product-led campaign structure: separate campaigns for LAP, home loan, balance transfer, business loans and insurance, each with its own budget, so a costly product does not eat the budget of a cheaper one.
- Tight keyword lists and negatives: phrase and exact match terms like “loan against property for self employed” plus a long negative list (app, customer care, login, statement, jobs, without documents, rejected) that we add to weekly from search term reports.
- Policy-safe ad copy: headlines that describe your service and lenders, no approval promises, and the disclosures Google requires for personal loan ads, such as repayment period range and maximum APR, shown on the landing page.
- Dedicated landing pages: one per product, with lender names, a short form, a call button and the DSA disclosure. Sending finance ads to a homepage nearly always costs more per lead.
- Call and offline conversion tracking: call tracking on ads and pages, plus a simple sheet where your team marks leads as qualified or disbursed, which we import back into Google Ads so bidding learns from real outcomes.
We also set ad schedules around when your team can answer. A call ad running at 10 pm, when nobody picks up, pays for a click and leaves the borrower calling the next agent on the page. If your office closes at 7, the call extensions should too, with form ads running through the evening and a WhatsApp reply first thing in the morning.
Keywords and search intent
Here is how we usually group finance searches for a DSA in NCR. The middle column is where most of the budget should go.
- High intent, specific: “LAP for commercial property Noida”, “home loan balance transfer Gurgaon”, “business loan for traders with ITR”. These are worth paying for.
- Problem-led: “home loan for self employed without ITR”, “loan for low CIBIL score”. Some convert, many cannot qualify. We bid lower and use a landing page that is honest about eligibility.
- Research: “LAP interest rate”, “home loan eligibility calculator”. Expensive and slow to convert. Usually better left to SEO.
- Brand and navigational: bank names, “login”, “customer care”. Excluded.
On compliance: Google’s personal loan policy also restricts loans with very short repayment periods, so if you promote short-tenure products, check the policy before you spend. The DPDP Act 2023 applies to every form, so each landing page carries a consent line. This is our working practice, not legal advice.
How the engagement runs
Weeks 1 to 2: account audit or fresh set-up, verification support, conversion tracking, landing pages for your two main products. We start with a modest budget, often INR 40,000 to 75,000 for the first month in NCR, depending on product.
Months 2 to 3: daily search term checks in the first weeks, then twice weekly. Bids shift towards keywords that produce qualified calls. Underperforming products are paused rather than kept alive.
Months 4 to 6: once there are enough qualified leads recorded, we move to smart bidding on qualified-lead conversions. We test new products or a second city only after the first campaigns are stable.
What we report
- Cost per qualified lead, by product
- Calls over 60 seconds from ads
- Search impression share on your core terms
- Disapproved ads and policy warnings
- Disbursements traced back to ads, where your team shares outcomes
We share the search terms report with you, not just the summary. Seeing the actual phrases people typed before they clicked your ad is often the quickest way for a DSA owner to understand where the budget goes, and your team usually spots irrelevant terms we can add as negatives.

Frequently asked questions
Do DSAs need Google’s financial services verification to run ads?
Google requires financial services verification for advertisers promoting financial products in India. Whether you qualify, and which documents Google asks for, depends on your business type and how you present the service. Requirements change, so we check the current policy with you before you spend. Without verification, ads may be limited or not show.
Can we bid on bank names like SBI or HDFC?
We advise against it. People searching a bank’s name usually want the bank, and arriving at an agent’s page feels misleading. Lenders may also object to trademark use in ads. You can mention lenders you represent on the landing page instead, where the context is clear.
What budget does a DSA need for Google Ads?
For NCR, a realistic starting budget for one or two products is INR 40,000 to 75,000 a month, plus management fees. Smaller budgets can work in tier-2 cities or for narrow products. Below that, there are too few clicks to learn what works and tracking data stays thin.
Why are our loan leads from Google so poor?
Usually it is broad match keywords, missing negative keywords, homepage landing pages and no qualifying questions. Check your search terms report: if you see “app”, “customer care” or “without documents”, that is where the money is going. Fixing keywords and landing pages typically improves quality within a few weeks.
